So Notre Dame releases a statement saying Manti was the victim of a hoax and had no idea that his girlfriend was fake. Yes, the same girlfriend that he claimed to talk to for hours and hours on the phone every night and fall asleep listening to each other breathing. That was all a trick. And that he didn’t go to her funeral because she insisted he not miss a game, not because, oh you know, she was never a real person in the first place. Well it was vs Michigan, right?
 
Well at least now everyone has the green light to make dead girlfriend jokes with zero repercussions. All the jokes you wanted to make about Manti Te’o's closet homosexuality are now fair game. You can say whatever you want now and nobody can call you a scumbag because no matter what there’s a bigger scumbag out there who made up a fake dead chick. #awesome
