I thought DeBoer was a salt of the earth Dakotan who would be here for some time
Can't judge a book by the cover and anyway the two years DeBoer gave us were among the best ever
If Fisch wins he can star on Real Housewives of Montlake
If he loses fuck him
Hmmm…. The Jen Cohen leopard print photo suddenly won't post.

I mistakenly thought the same thing. But as you point out, he did lead an epic two year run. Tip of the cap to him for that.
We may have dodged a bullet with him leaving though. Time will tell. That run at UW was BPE powered, supported by an all time great WR corps and an outstanding OL. His recruiting was largely shit, and is now flying solo, Penix-less, Grubb-less, Huff-less. Bama is Bama until they aren't, but my hunch is Deboer will struggle there. He is operating in the shadow of the greatest CFB coach of all time at arguably the greatest CFB program of all time that is used to winning natties at an unreasonable clip.
Bama has the kind of standards like UW had in 1991… when some fans complained that we only beat Cal 24-17

Fisch can win big here. Why rebuild Florida in a meat grinder for one of the SECs four playoff spots? He will either build a championship level team here and leave for the NFL after he does or he will die trying. He knows first hand that switching jobs in the era of unlimited free agency is an awful burden and flat out not enjoyable. If Arizona was in the Big 10 or if UW was still in the P12 he likely wouldn't have left. He had built a formidable team from scratch. I'm LIPO because if he can't win here no blue blood in CFB will want him, if he stalls out at 9 wins a year like Chip at UCLA then we won't want him either and he will probably bail for an NFL OC job somewhere. An NFL head gig is his end game, period. That's his driving force. A motivated ladder climber is good for UW. He either gets there from Seattle or he never gets there at all.
Worrying about him leaving for another job the second he has an even slightly better opportunity is legit. Thinking he will go to Florida unless it's a much better opportunity doesn't seem like a huge fear to me. I'm still in the camp of let's hope he wins enough to where he's a candidate for other jobs and LIPO. Just what it is now unless you can get a coach who has some attachment to the school/area and UW has none of those guys out there.

Do we for sure know what Deboer really wants is an NFL job? Not even dooging because I know Alabama is a way better job but I do think there's a reality where UW was a better position for him that's what he wants. Even if he was just good at UW in the coming years and his offense was appealing to the NFL (which I think it would be) I think he's a good candidate whereas if he goes to Alabama and goes even 12-2 he oddly instantly loses appeal because it feels like now he's an underachiever.

@WoolleyDoog
I don't think Bama fans will complain about 12-2 unless they shit the bed to end the season.
11-3 and 10-4 they'd call him an underachiever.
I think he's going to excel at Bama
His poor efforts in recruiting at UW might be an indication that he'd prefer the NFL someday

He will never get that opportunity to move on to another college unless he wins BIG. Bama wanted DeBoer because he went 25-3 at UW and almost won a natty. Fisch would need to have a similar run to warrant any of the jobs that are clearly superior to UW. What are there? 10, maybe? Unlike DeBoer if Fisch does win like that at UW it will be all his guys that accomplish it. A juggernaut that he built. He inherited almost nothing compared to DeBoer. Easy for KDB to leave, he was starting over. UW will be Jedds creation if he gets to those lofty levels of winning. I think it's the UW or the NFL for Fisch.
