Tariffs

Typical Dem conflationary argument. Most of their base can't grasp what a conflation is or are morally ok with using one to attempt to "win" an argument.
Ex illegal vs legal immigration
All economists agree tariffs are inflationary (true statement)
How inflationary those economists think tariffs are is a very wide net. (Conflation here)
Again, the Chinese tariffs were essentially unnoticed in inflation statistics after crying in the media that they'd be catastrophic.
They also spent the last 4 years pretending inflation didn't exist so it's about as sincere a concern as "the price of eggs!" One week into Trump's tenure.
Drill baby drill and opening up millions of units of housing currently occupied by illegals will likely have far greater deflationary effects than even 25% blanket tariffs on roughly 25% of imports with no substitution or replacement (there will be).
The US economy is the 800lb gorilla and can more than absorb the effects of this. Especially if it's unleashed in other ways.

"None of this is supposed to happen under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement that Mr. Trump negotiated and signed in his first term. The U.S. willingness to ignore its treaty obligations, even with friends, won’t make other countries eager to do deals. Maybe Mr. Trump will claim victory and pull back if he wins some token concessions. But if a North American trade war persists, it will qualify as one of the dumbest in history."

Still unable to articulate your own argument Delores? Run along home now, Mommy is calling and the grownups are talking.
Those of you who bet the response as avoidance, come collect your winnings.

The sky is falling crowd in full flower
NOC what you assholes who defended Biden think about anything
I checked

@HHusky does his usual cut/paste with no commentary of his own, @UW_Doog_Bot answers the cut/paste with a well-reasoned and perfectly explanative post of his own writing, and then H the Retard accuses him of avoidance. What is being avoided, only the Retard knows.
Dumbest poster on the Tug. Way to go, Margaret!

Too stupid to read an argument now too. Good grief Penelope.

For 4 years rats have told us what a wonderful economy they made with the highest inflation in 40 years. How we should all be appreciative and love biden and the rats for it. Now you get idiots like hh trying to tell us how horrible things are going to be under Trump.
Its actually humorous to see adults act like children.

Who do you have in this standoff of titans?

But Inflation!!!

What I pointed out earlier but in GDP terms. Trump is not negotiating from a position of weakness. The capitulators and US apologists on the Left can’t fathom this country actually using its earned leverage to not be in a disadvantageous relationship with other countries.

Why isn't Chuckie bitching about the impact on the price of hamburgers, cheese and hot dogs? And what's with the gas grill and the CO2 emission killing the planet? So phucking authentic.

For a brief moment in time inflation hit 9% annualized and then fell to levels at and eventually well below its historic average of 3.3 - 3.5%. What will your excuses for Daddy be as it now climbs, ladies? And it will. Take your screenshots.

Sure. Your numbers are cooked and you seem to love the phucking the American citizens got on gasoline and electricity prices. You seem to love the open borders and importing foreign goods. Please keep up the "nothing can be done" - No Can Do - policies that you ran on in 2024.
PS The Make Inflation Greater Act is still in play and working just as we said it would.

Reading/listening to the same people on TV/social media insist that tariffs on Canada and Mexico will harm the US economy then applaud Trudeau/Steinbaum, who have zero leverage in this power dynamic, for imposing harmful tariffs to their own economies on US goods, is fucking wild to see.
These people do not want the US people to succeed and our country to take back the economic advantage we’ve earned but don’t use. It’s 100% about hating on Trump.
