Completely arbitrary. How can you eject 84 without also ejecting 12 on that play?

In fact, why shouldn't both players be ejected anytime two helmets come into contact?

If helmets were never meant to touch each other, why make 'em wear them in the first place?
 
I think it was clear targeting. I think a penalty of just 15 yards isn't enough. But ejection for the game is too much. Why not 5 plays or something.
 
Only old school "spearing" should be called and result in ejection.

The Ohio State QB was the one that actually lowered his head and made contact
