Sturgill Simpson

CSB Tim. My neighbor was the drummer in Sturgill’s band before Sturgill signed with a big label. The label told him “we only want you, not the band”.
My neighbor was and still is a little bitter.

Is Albert Hall where John Lennon asked the rich people to rattle their jewelry?

Anyone on here a fan? If you are not, you need to become one. I saw him this week. Played full-throttle for three hours, no crowd work, no opening act, no banner. Almost Stoner rock, with a Grateful Dead jam tendency, super-tight.
Check out this setlist.

Waylon is my hero so I need to buy some Sturgill albums. Just have been lazy…
He’s playing a festival in central OR this summer. On the fence cause it might be a bit too busy for my taste. I’m an extrovert who hates large crowds of ding dongs.

Huge Sturgill fan have never seen him live though. Sailor's Guide to Earth is exactly my kind of weird country epic album and he sounds like a super interesting and unique character on podcasts. He also produced Tyler Childers' first album, which is one of my favorite albums of any genre of recent decades.

@WoolleyDoog @YellowSnow don't do the festival. He's playing in Spokane, no opener, 3 hours. It'll be worth it.

I pulled up the set list and the covers he is doing are awesome.
Watching him do LA Woman makes me think of what a missed opportunity this was for Waylon Jennings to honky tonkify that song.

That's a 6 hr drive, guv-nuh.
I said that about Social Distortion once. Now I just live with regret.
Nobody cares about the pain in the ass whatever bullshit that came with the journey, that will fade within weeks.
But the pilgrimage to see a true artist at the height of his powers will be with you until you're dead - mate!
