I like taking comments about Jordan Polk seriously I do that.
Of course he isn't like Jordan Polk, I didn't mean it when I said it back in August. How that fuck ever got a scholarship in the first place was a fucking joke. Even more said Doogs actually brought his name up along with other recruits as evidence to bring Ty back for year four!!!!
Mickens is what he is, he's a fast little fuck who isn't much of a WR. Perhaps with a REAL coach he can be a playmaker for us.

Being serious now Mickens reminds me of Ja'Warren Hooker who also wore #4. Kid could fucking fly but wasn't a WR at all.
I think had he been properly coached Hooker could have done damage. I think Mickens has a shot under Petersen while with Sark he would have been forgotten by his senior year.
I still remember Hooker's first play as a Husky.

Mickens had a bad game. Check the stats, he had a good season. I could rattle off multiple games in which he played very well. He's not a star, but get some fucking perspective. He can play.

Not even trolling but besides Cal I can't think of a game where he actually made a reception that resembled a WR. I'm guessing almost 90% of his stats if not more were bubble screens.
Again not complaining about that as he is fast but he's not a real WR either.
I agree with that More Time, but he played his role fairly well. I don't think he got too many targets downfield either, and his hands aren't that good.
He played fucking terrible yesterday, dropping a dime from Price, and being a pussy and short arming a TD by Miles because he didn't want to be hit. If the safety took his head off, it would have probably been a 15 yard penalty. He's gotta lay it on the line.

I think Mickens could be one of the big winners with a real coaching staff. He has speed and can do more than just bubble screens.
Back when he used to play Percy Harvin was good at bubble screens and doing other things. The coaching staff needs to use Mickens in the same way.

There were at least 3 or 4 times this year where I was shocked to see Mickens make a play downfield. I remember this because I went off all offseason about how terrible his hands were and how he can't catch anything longer than a screen pass, so everytime he made the plays downfield I felt stupid.
He's no star, but he's much more of a receiver than JaWarren Hooker, IMO. For one thing, he's a heck of a lot tougher than Hooker. Mickens is reasonably strong for his size. He's not a track guy playing football.
He's also not world class fast like Hooker. That kid could flat out fly.

I think Mickens has a lot of potential, actually. He had a shitty bowl game, but so did Price and a lot of other players. Mickens is only going to be as good as the coaching and plays he gets called his way. Sark fell in love with the bubble screen and it so happened Mickens made it work. That just tells me he can do other things, too. But only with a coach who knows what the fuck he's doing.

2013 Cal - 6 catches 180 yards (2 TDs)
Otherwise he was rather forgettable(maybe not as much as Hall or Polk)

At the beginning of the year I think most people on here would have taken 65-688-5 from our 4th receiving option.
He is what he is, a small shifty slot receiver that can be very effective in the short passing game and showed some improvement down the field.
If there is a receiver who DESERVES the critical eye it is our 5* Parade POY.

He had two very good games. Kevin Smith only had 1 100 yard game. Kasen had none. If Mickens was forgettable, so was everyone else. He was our 2nd leading receiver. I think we have pretty good WR's and it depended on the week/match up who got the catches and yards. He's not a star, but he doesn't suck. Until the last two games, he was only a few yards behind Kevin Smith, our leading WR. His role was to catch bubble screens and get yards. For the most part, he did a solid job.
If Mickens catches the TD pass from Miles and the bomb from Price, you guys would be sucking his dick, pumped about what he could do next year. He didn't, and he should get the blame for that, but he's a quality (not a star) player who is a useful piece to the offense.
