Kirk Ferentz is a decent coach but at one point in the 1980s the following were all assistants under Hayden Fry:

Bob Stoops
Bill Snyder
Barry Alvarez
Dan McCarney
Ferentz

Iowa may have ended up with the worst of the bunch.

To make it worse Iowa interviewed Stoops when Fry retired but went with Ferentz instead then Stoops went to Oklahoma and the rest is history as they say.

All signage still McCarran. Was there last Tuesday and will be there tomorrow. I’ll check it out and ask what stoops was on
