Starting to change my mind on Cyler

Minus the fumbling issues at Arizona, he played solid. Today he was flat out good. And that was without running the ball much which i had previously been saying was when he plays his best.

I don't think he's ever going to be a quarterback that goes out and wins a game by himself, and I don't think he's ever going to put up good numbers against quality defenses, but he's shown the past two games that he's not complete ASS like he was to start the season.

I think something that we're not bringing up enough re: Miley is how much the suspension this offseason hurt him. He sat out all of spring and wasn't getting starter reps for the entire fall camp. That's not an ideal situation for a first time starting QB, and it was naive to think he could step in and produce right away. I think the bigger picture is that we can actually put stock into what Petersen says as it's not just bullshit coach speak or dumbass Sark sales pitches. Going into fall Petersen was saying that Cyler had a long way to go to catch up, and it definitely looks true.

Cyler looks as if he's finally getting a grasp of the offense and not having to think as much as just reacting. These past two games may just be an anomaly, and it's not like he was lighting the world on fire either, but I think our starting QB might just be almost competent now.

He may be getting it a bit. OSU isn't very good though.

He's still limited as a passer and always will be. It's a handicap for the offense. I'll keep crossing my fingers that someone with a better arm figures things out in the offseason.

Sitting out Spring Ball and sharing reps in the fall really hurt both Miles and the offense. He could be pretty good next year.

Miles has a number of limitations as a QB as he struggles to make a number of very fundamental throws that a PAC QB should be able to make blindfolded.

That being said, he's also showing a blue print of how you can win with him in the conference - at least against the teams that you are supposed to beat.

He has a definite shot to be able improve in the offseason and show some growth. But worst case, he's showing that for someone to beat him out means that we'll have a QB that has earned that position.

Still makes a lot of headscratching plays, and still has a popgun arm.
That said it's hard not to notice the improvement

OSU's D was 5th in the league in yards per play and 7th in sacks and tfl's. Its not a good defense but its not bad. Hopefully Cyler can build on his performance. It would be great if Daniels could emerge as a legit TE threat and also someone steps up as a go-to receiver.

Do you think Daniels has a bigger upside than Perkins?

Bigger upside? Definitely. Perkins has been getting a good amount of targets lately and he's been farely sure handed (even though I think he had a drop today), but Daniels flashed serious speed on that TD. TE's aren't supposed to burn through a secondary like that.

Improved? Ok.

Good enough o beat the defenses of pac12 teams with winning records? I'll wait until I see it.

Pretty good? He has a long way to go for that. He looks more comfortable and confident. Realistically he can be a good game mgr. by next year. I can't see him taking over games in which the Huskies are down double digits (hopefully he doesn't need to).

I have no problem with Petersen having the quick hook next year, Steve Superior style.
