Spring ball day 1 [Premium Caple Content]

Naijiel Hale not at practice this week.... Not surprising, quite honestly.

I've heard rumors for a while that Hale would be selling the couch at some point ... not surprising that he's out at least the first week (at least).

Don't imagine that the coaches want him in practice if he doesn't want to be there or is undecided ... best to be decided one way or another.

Everybody needs to be pulling the same rope in the same direction.

Reasons?

The most common reasons that I've heard were fit and playing time. When you factor in that Jones passed him last year and you have to think that not only will Kelly be ahead of him if healthy, but we're continuing to recruit better DBs, Hale's seeing writing on the wall that he's at risk of being passed sooner than later. Given that he didn't redshirt, may not be such a bad problem for him.

I have a hard time getting the play out of my head against UCLA where Hale/Baker got beat deep and Hale stopped on the play when he realized he got burned and started yelling at Baker. Can't imagine that that sat well with the coaches. It's one thing to get on somebody for blowing a play or coverage, but do that on the sideline ... not on the field while the play is still going.

I really hope Joyner isn't too big for corner, I think he could play some this year and hopefully him, Jones and Kelly can be a nice team for a few years.

On a side note, not one person in the FS Seattle media asked Petersen about the OL in his post-practice media session. More reason HardcoreHusky needs to get credentialed!1!! Grundle and I can handle the interviews.

HA... I unfollowed him the other day because he is incredibly annoying and some of the stuff he puts out there I am sure the coaches aren't happy about.

I'm surprised you guys even follow these guys on twitter. I'm only 32 and I can't understand what most people under 25 post on twitter, but maybe I don't know twitter from twatter.

Quoting Chris Petersen after Day 1 of Huskies spring practice

Huskies coach Chris Petersen met with reporters after the first day of UW spring football practices. The entire transcript of his interview is below, but first a couple of personnel notes:

— There were two players absent from Monday’s practice — RB Deontae Cooper, and CB Naijiel Hale. Petersen said Cooper “will be out there,” so that doesn’t sound like a significant absence. He said Hale won’t practice this week, but could return next week, and declined to specify why.

— Petersen said he’s evaluating the quarterback position as if Cyler Miles might not be here in August, either, but said that the door remains open for Miles to return to the team. He’s currently taking an indefinite leave of absence.

(Naijiel Hale not here today?) “Naijiel won’t be out here this week. We’ll see how it goes next week.”

(Reason for that?) “No reason. Well, there’s a reason – a reason between myself and Naijiel.”

We're lucky Taft posts here at all.

Grundle is basically interweb savvy Taft.

I've always has much more affinity for twats than twits.
