A strongly worded rebuke:

"If Russia continues on its current course, we have a range of tools at our disposal, including sanctions that would target certain sectors of the Russian economy, and we have been consulting closely with our European and G7 partners"

But then not so much:

But, noting that energy resources flowed from Russia to the continent even throughout the Cold War, he said that the notion of "turning off the tap" of natural gas and oil would be "unrealistic."

I bet Putin is worried as hell now.

So if the tap was shut off, do you have a tap in mind to replace it? Didn't think so.

What should he have said, fag? We're going to nuke Moscow?

Well, if what you say is a option he should have said stop your shit or NATO is going to get medieval on your ass. But that's not going to happen. So he will continue with strong rebukes and not doing anything meaningful economically...such as turning off the gas as you suggested was an option...now, not so much.

You're right Einstein, know why?

Because Ukraine fucked themselves and didn't join NATO. They had a chance to, and decided to make closer ties to Russia.

Lot of good that did them.

Like I said, no one gives a fuck about Ukraine. That country was dumb enough to not join NATO and hand over their nukes. They're reaping what they have sown.

I'm hoping that there is a lot of behind the scenes talking and action being taken. It isn't surprising that the President isn't talking tough given that Ukraine is not under the NATO Article 5 umbrella.

Ideally we should be working on basing arrangements for a substantial troop presence in Poland, Romania and the Baltics, initiating talks to bring Sweden and Finland formally into NATO, and a contingency plan to help the Euros wean themselves off Russian gas+oil, starting this winter.

Putin can roll into Poland and we will tell him to LEAVE in no uncertain terms. That's all

No.

This isn't ww2, with polish cavalry getting mowed down by german panzers. Poland is getting pretty serious about their military, now that they are in NATO and doing good economically.

If Russia has problems with goatfuckers in Chechnya, they will have MAJOR issues with Poland

Yeah, but none of that will happen.

Mike-

Poland is a NATO member in good standing. Putin rolling into Poland would be the same as Putin rolling into London, Berlin, Paris, or Yelm.

No, it wouldn't. We won't do shit. We might send over Biden to achieve peace in our time. No fucking way does the US invest lives and trillions into that. No fucking way. We won't even do anything meaningful economically. It would need to come down to the US being attacked. Simple fact.

You are fundamentally wrong on this one. It's like arguing with a brick wall, or D2D.

Just because the US won't instill a draft and send in tons of foot soldiers, doesn't mean we won't send our AF and Navy to assist Europe and throw back Russia. The marines and special forces will get deployed as well.

The citizens opinions don't fucking matter on this issue Damone. HTH

The US is full of native Poles and Europeans, not native Iraqis and Afganis.

If Europe is going to get invaded by Russia, they US populace will recognize the need to defend it you fucking dumbass

We aren't going to do shit to help ween Europe off Russian oil/gas. Look at the fucking Keystone pipeline.

Let the EU solve some of their own fucking problems for once, the US can't protect them and build natural gas infrastructure for them at the same fucking time

You're backing off quite a bit. You went from we would go to war and invade to now "assist".

The citizens don't matter? The war we are in and the fact Obama is the President suggests otherwise. If we went to war over this, it's political suicide for who ever is in charge. Simple fact.

That was in response to a post dealing with the potential scenario of Russia nuking Europe.

Context, toilet man, context.
