Truer words were never spoken BUT the reason I give the nod to Sly in this is his overall catalog is just so much full of great tunes than Al Green. Plus he's in the holy triumvirate of JB and George Clinton for basically creating funk.

This is a hard one, for sure... but to me, Sly is probably one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century.
