Otis Redding is the fucking GOAT.

I loved Otis from the moment Maverick talked about how his mom listened to Dock of the Bay over and over and over.

Top Gun. Auto-chin in effect.

I basically think of you at the Injun Maverick. I think so far as a movie goes, it's cheesy as fuck (but so was much of the 80's), but when one grows up 10 mins up the road from Miramar NAS and F-14s are constantly flying over head it's essential.

This might be my favorite Otis live video...his take on Satisfaction at the 1967 Monterey Festival (shout out to @BearsWiin ) . Few humans ever had this much soul. Booker T and the MGs were the backing group, of course.

Jimbo, as the opening lyrics in this track demonstrate, would have picked Otis.

Of my best row boat frens lived on the lake in Madison (shout out to @Mad_Son ) where Otis sold the couch.

the only reason I voted this way was longevity - Otis did not have longevity

Otis’s commercial peak of 1965- 68 was pretty short. The Supreme’s sold far more records than any other artist in this bracket but their peak was short too: 1964- 67. But Diana Ross went on to remain a popular solo act. Personally, I think she’s nothing special compared to the other greats.

Your fren looking for more frens?

Otis my man, pulling into a comfortable lead. I was worried this might be out Rod Stewart over Neil Young moment of the tourney (hi @RaceBannon )

My friend used to make me mix tapes in the early 90s and he would always end them with the first stomp/clap bit of this song and then fade it out as they start to sing like 'fuck you - as soon as you hear those claps you want the rest of that shit, but I'm an asshole so i'm going to give you some pain at the end of this tape.'
