Sonics' return to Seattle could be in jeopardy by the crazy tax proposals

The Warriors screwed the NBA up with threes. Watching guys camp behind the three point line and teams jack up 38 threes a game isn't real basketball. The refs won't call three steps now. Real basketball has real post players like Shaq.

Really the NBA has sucked since 2000 but was for some reason kind of okay during part of the 2010s.

It was enjoyable watching my brother in law a diehard warriors fan with the Ben Davis ⚡ shirt smoking weed and talking shit to blazer fans multiple years in a row in the playoffs.

Warriors jacked threes at a high rate but they also played a style that had a shitload of off ball action and back cuts.

The bullshit now is high ball screen, pick and pop or dish to the corner three shooter. Warriors were playing Popp Spurs ball on steroids.

Not at all what Golden State was doing.

I still liked the NBA through 2016 when Lebron and Kyrie fucked over Golden State

By covid I was done. It wasn't the Sonics leaving its the game

I paid 6 bucks to watch Spencer Haywood. I went to the Al Bianchi summer camp and met Elgin Baylor

They were first and I was a kid

But it's gone now
You met Elgin Baylor? He was after my time (I think I saw him once against the Trail Blazers in their inaugural year) but in the big scheme of things, he was one of the all time best. Tell me he was a good guy......

Got to meet Kareem and magic as a kid. Grew up watching Kobe and Shaq. Was there in person for when Kobe beat the Celtics.

Don't care or watch at all now. They told me it wasn't for me anymore.
My cousin and I would tell our parents that the Trailblazer game was over at 10. It was really over at 9. We would then hang out in the parking lot next to the exit where the opposing team would come out and get on their bus to go to their hotel room. We wanted autographs. The Milwaukee Bucks and Lew Alcindor were playing and the lowly Trailblazers beat them that night. As Lew Alcindor came out the door we asked for his autograph, he ignored us and got on the bus. My cousin knocked on his window to see if he would give his autograph, he slid the window down, stuck his long arm out the window and flipped us off while telling us to fuck off. I was 9 years old. He was and is an asshole and it explains why after his long career no one wanted anything to do with him.

What a difference in time. I can't imagine dropping a 9 and 10 year old off in downtown Portland to go by themselves to a Trailblazer game. Back then it was no big deal. Our seats were $2.50 by the way.

Yeah well, it's the Knicks and Lakers. Dallas is a pretty good example of how fucked up everything is.

There's so much going wrong with the league and we both know it.

What the blazers have going for them (the only thing) is that Paul bought the land and it's in a great spot in Portland, WA in terms of location. Owners now almost demand that. I don't know what the situation is with climate pledge but that is tough market if you suck ass.

Portland just now got an all star that isn't Dame. Which btw I like him so much I might break my rule and get an Avdija jersey just to piss everyone off down here. Fuck Portlanders.

It's a terrible situation though. Charlotte, DC, NO, and maybe Brooklyn should be contracted. Sorry I'll take it to the ngaf board.
Reading the cope of Blazer internet fans trying to support a former Israeli soldier who actually stands up for his country is a guilty pleasure of mine. Same bunch that hated Billups for “raping” some skank even though he was exonerated by police.

So glad I moved from that shithole full of hypocrites.

Curious story here regarding Al Bianchi. When Bianchi was running the new Seattle expansion team, they held a contest for fans to submit names for the franchise. As my stepdad told the story, he submitted "Squires" as the name. Of course, it became the SuperSonics.

A few years later Bianchi moves on to run an expansion ABA team in Virginia. Suddenly one day my stepdad heard on the news that the team was to be named the Virginia Squires. For decades, my stepdad swore vengeance on Bianchi for not getting his proper credit.

Sounds like this is the new NBA Playoff thread for this year.

Which yes, you aren't supposed to give a shit about the NBA most of the time. Cuban just said it last week. The goal is to put a bunch of consumer shit around the arena and make the game just a simple night of entertainment where your team may or may not be tanking and/or resting their best players.

Which that problem is way worse than the transfer portal & nil. Much, much worse.

I remember how excited I was seeing Denver come here last year just to see Jokic sit out.

However when spring/early summer hits and the playoffs start, it's great. Especially if you're within driving distance of a team in it.

And that's usually when I see the most sonics fans down here with all their gay duck colors on.

Also, it was funny listening to cuban sound off on tanking considering he got fucking gifted Flagg.
