Sober Sark?

I was drunk high and tired but I don't recall these gaffes

I saw a defense that appears to really suck get stops when they had to

I saw Penix overcome his now well documented pick 6 problem to hit some big third down throws and lead a 92 yard clock killing winning drive

For all the many flaws DeBoer has the squad winning games instead of losing

Plenty of time for despair after the annual loss to Oregon
I concur, possibly because I was drunk, high, and tired as well. I see things that I haven't in quite a while...specifically, adjustments being made in real time, not waiting until we are down 2-3 scores at the half (coulda-shoulda been last night), only to come out, come back, and lose a close game, "Just good enough to get beat"... That's a big deal for me.

Also, the sense of calm on the final drive from the players. Maybe it was the weed talking, but I felt that we would finish the drive off, and I haven't felt that way in a long time. "We" have lost a lot of these games over the years...

Deboer has some seriously fucktarded players. McAllister and Perryman are complete assaults on the eyes. No idea if that's on the D staff or if they just #needmoretime. Probably the former, but whatever.

But the guy can scheme a fucking offense. And he has a big swinging dick in all sorts of unfavorable scenarios that the team somehow pulls off. After so many times it's no longer coincidence. These are scenarios where Sark teams would shit all over themselves like clockwork. Winning is contagious.

Race, Fishpo and Gatorz all have it right. The team has warts. 7-2 isn't 5-4 though.

Ugly wins, once you're done suffering through viewing them, are some of the best because they were almost losses. "Struggled but won" is only a coin toss a bad break, or a bad play away from "struggled in a loss". I prefer the former.

The Sark reference is more towards bad in-game management

KDB had some brutal gaffes tonight in strategy that he got bailed out on

The 7-2 record is full blown paper tiger

This isn’t a poorly in game managed team, other than that great point.

We are well on our way to a 10-2 record and a big win vs a highly ranked team in a NY6 game on New Years.. the big issue is that everyone is going to lament the loss vs ASU that kept us out of the title series game consideration.

That’s fucking dreaming

Cook it … we ain’t beating Oregon

Winning at Wazzu depends on the weather

We might win 10 games with the bowl … but that’s schedule driven

We aren't losing to Wazzu. Fuck that, and fuck off.

Oregon state is solid on D this year and this was a game I was concerned about bc of that match up.

As usual stupid penalties and a shitty back end D made a sub par offense look plus. Pretty sure that's coaching related even if there's a talent problem.

Deboner doesn't give up. Nice to win close games and feel the team has the confidence to play through adversity the whole game.

Had us going 2-2 down the stretch. 3-1 now with a new Oregon monkey on our back to shake next year. Still, very happy if this team pulls 9-3. It has serious warts. Win a bowl game that's meaningful and you have program momentum.

Fix the D this off season. Deboer will be able to attract more talent on the field and in coaching talent after this.

Just so u know, my post was tongue in cheek… as well as a comment on the down and out nature of the pacific 12 this year

I’m happy for the limited success we have seen with marginally talented players… we are clearly not a great team but the team is playing with some heart so that’s good to see

The most encouraging thing besides the win

Could be worse, we could have spent a ton of money and hired Campbell.

The only complaints I have about the team based on this season are running short yardage and all things in the back 7/8 on defense including the staff. If they gut out 9 wins with those warts that’s pretty good for a 4-8 team. Our best defense this year has been the wind and elements.

That said I am more interested to see how cutthroat we are about the staff and getting immediate contributions from the portal. Without penix next year depending on the roster 6 wins could be more realistic. It’s DeBoer’s job to figure it out and we pay him like a pac 12 bottom feeder to do it. Either way it will be Interesting.

Going into the week the SRS was as follows:

Iowa St = 36
UW = 40

Wins and losses obviously matter

Let’s also realize not all schedules are equal

Are you suggesting Iowa St's schedule has been harder than ours? Do tell. Which juggernaut have they faced that you are most impressed by? Ohio? Kansas? West Virginia? Sark? A 5-4 Oklahoma?

We dodged a massive bullet.

Iowa State is 4-5. What fucking point are you trying to make? They suck, and no cherry picked ranking of the hundreds of advanced stats available changes that.

It's ok to admit the pearl clutching over not landing Campbell because of the "optics" was idiotic.

Take this shit to bdtw.com. Losers lose. ISU is a loser program.

Iowa States wins this year:

West Virginia
Iowa
Ohio
SE Missouri State

They aren’t going to even make a fucking bowl game this year. Campbells claim to fame is barely beating the shittiest Pac 12 “champion” decades in a diet Rose Bowl game. Woo hoo!
