Is he? Not that it's that relevant since both of those guys were projects and nowhere near college ready when they came into the program. The concern with Smalls is that he's already hit his ceiling. But Tryon was flashing by the end of his RS freshman year. If Smalls can have an Apple Cup like he did in 2018 then I'll be a lot more confident about him heading into 2022.

It’s also kinda hard to get pressures when you’re rushing 3 and dropping 8 in every single passing down. He’ll get there.

His work ethic and motivation have been questioned. I think there might be something to that. I don’t think that ZTF lacked/lacks that.

It's clear his recruiting ranking was off so better to treat him as a 4 star. With that in mind, maybe the light will go off for him in the 2nd half of the season.

The lack of improvement dating back to his sophomore year of high school can’t be ignored.

Let’s talk “tools.” Is he especially quick or fast? Is he a beast at the point of attack? Are his instincts special? I don’t see anything that stands out. I agree, give him more time, but it’s simply a prediction based on following the kid for 4-5 years.

Again, Cooper McDonald, the guy you and many others hated, starts over him.

Please go watch the burst he has on the pressure he got on the 1st or 2nd drive of the game. Starters? Dude we rotate like hockey lines. They get the same amount of snaps. Please go watch his natural power he displayed on his bull rushes against Utah as a true freshmen. He has tools. This is just a strange hill to die on.

It is racist, and yet it also has nothing to do with his need for S&C. His athleticism didn't scale as he grew, that's it. He's a SDE with above average athleticism for the position, not any type of pass rushing edge or blow shit up 1 gapper unless he's moving inside on obvious passing downs.
