I wonder if some of the holdup has been getting our new OC in place and settled.

We already have 2 great QB prospects coming in, we can afford to wait with a guy that didn't make us his first choice 2 years ago.

If we are low on scholarships, I'd rather take a stud DL or OL or RB or LB.

No. We will get scholarships back. If Eason doesn’t win the job, he will transfer once he graduates. If Sirmon or Yankoff is third string, one will transfer. Haener will eventually transfer.
 
Eason needs to change his last name to Browning so he doesn't have to sit out a year

Yeah, though in ASU's case it is probably closer to a CC district than a U district.

In all seriousness the school couldn't say anything until Eason officially filed paperwork, I assume this means that's done.
