Serious Q about VA and UO QB's

Obviously Vernon Adams is going to miss at least 3 practices, maybe more if grades take longer to get in or the Clearinghouse has issues or something.

I know Oregon has a shit ton of talent on offense, but is Lockie good enough if they have to start him? Can Adams really come in late and expect to lead them to a championship?

From the sounds of Helfrich going full Willingham at media day saying stuff like, "We talk about the guys that are here", they can't be too happy about how this situation has played out with Adams. And it even sounds like they might have started to downplay Adams a bit now.

Thanks!

Lockie is serviceable because he knows the system intimately and the players know and trust him. Unfortunately, the coachs have never played him in games with the starters nor have they unleashed him in his cleanup role. I think they screwed up. Adams passed his test(s) and has been working with the recvrs for a couple months. I have no idea which QB will be the primary or if one will play and then the other will play. We have Michigan State the second week.

IMO, Boobs is probably good enough to QB them to a victory over a VA-less EWU and Georgia State. The smart money is on a loss at East Lansing. Utah at least is at Autzen, but it will be tough. Then the schedule doesn't really heat up again until the middle to end of October. So the question becomes can VA get up to speed by then?

The Solid Verbal Podcast guy on SBN, said he's heard Lockie sucks (in so many words). He's also an Oregon alum, so he's probably dialed in.

Find it on the "podcast of champions" - fwiw they've had greats guests recently (Ted Miller, Thammel, Feldman, The SBN guy).

This. They have time to get Adams acclimated before East Lansing. It sure helps having Royce Freeman and a bunch of good WR's too. All Lockie will have to do is hand the ball to Freeman/Tyner, throw a couple bubble screens, and hit play action passes with WR's running free.

Getting a QB "acclimated" to beat MSU on the road likely takes more than 3 weeks.

Ted Miller and great in the same sentence? Seriously?

It's a tough game no matter what. Adams missing a week of practice isn't going to make a difference.

If Lockie or any other QB on their roster was good, they wouldn't bother with Vernon's bullshit.

Sophisticated analysis.

I think I'll trust the coach who is 24-4 on this over a Hitler-mustached avatar.

You're better than that. Dude is 0-0 without Mariota.

That's like saying Rick won a Rose Bowl just because of Tui

Wait, that's true

When he missed all of spring, summer PRPs, and half of fall camp I think it matters.

Missing even the first three practices of fall camp is a big deal. Those are the heavy install days, it's not like he is just missing practice. He is missing: Film review with his position coach, film with his OC, film with the team, training/lifting, nutrition and maintenance of his cramps.

Throw that on to missing spring ball, summer workouts, more film study, sitting in meetings, learning how to study film with his new coaches. It is a big deal.

If he comes in a week late or even three days late he has missed a HUGE amount of work. Working with WR's on the side is fine, but it is no where near the same as what he could be doing if he was in school after or before spring ball.

It's less that and more that the playoff committee will forgive an early loss to MSU under Lockie if the team makes amends by curb stomping USC, Stanford and the CCG opponent under VA in November. Is that what will happen? Right now, it's LIPO.

This is the Ohio script

If Oregon is to win the Pac-12, it will be because of their skill guys on O and front 7 on D.

Ohio State went 12-1 though. Oregon isn't doing that this year.
