Jimmie Dougherty, who spent last season as the offensive coordinator at the University of Washington before leaving in February, is joining the Seahawks coaching staff as an offensive assistant, according to a report from the NFL Network.

Dougherty has spent all of a coaching career that dates to 2002 in the college ranks. That includes the 2016 season as an offensive analyst at the University of Michigan under then-coach Jim Harbaugh.

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald worked as an assistant under Jim Harbaugh or John Harbaugh from 2014-23 before coming to Seattle. A few other Seahawks assistants also have worked under the Harbaughs.

Jim Harbaugh’s son, Jay, is the Seahawks’ special-teams coordinator and was on staff at Michigan in 2016 with Dougherty.

Dougherty also was an assistant at UW from 2009-12 under Steve Sarkisian. He came to UW in 2024 from the University of Arizona with UW coach Jedd Fisch, working in 2024 as passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He became the offensive coordinator in 2025 when Brennan Carroll left for a position with the Raiders with his father, Pete.

Though Dougherty was the coordinator, Fisch called the plays.
