Looking at the save date, I made this over a year ago. At the request of somebody who is connected with covering Oregon recruiting. It's been posted by someone else here before. I don't know how else to prove this rumor has existed for a while. I understand you trying to refute everything else, but saying a rumor doesn't exist in a conversation about the rumor is pretty special.

I cannot fucking believe this. Worse than Foster Sarell. Worse than Garnett and Banner. Worse than Jonathan Stewart. Worse than all of them because the team was in much worse shape in those years.

No matter who the coaches get, this recruiting class will have a black mark. A footnote. An asterisk.

Total FAILURE of historic proportions.

If we can't get/keep talent like Smalls from our own backyard during 10+ win seasons and conference titles being stacked up then there is no chance of UW ever reaching the elite tier of programs. Pete is the perfect fit for coaching here and winning, but the reasons that UW likes him are also the reasons that he won't adapt his philosophy.

And the liberal upper campus will never bring in the mercenaries needed to take that final step.

Feels like this is the peak for the program and we'll have to be happy with 10 win seasons and NY6 bowl losses as the high water mark.
