Okay, but how do you negatively recruit UW? Especially for a kid on the defensive side of the ball? I'm asking seriously. Can somebody be creative and think of a valid critique of the program that might dissuade a recruit from visiting? The only thing I can think of is spring "game" attendance, but it's not like it's hard to pull up the season average attendance, shove that right back in their face, and top it with some, "Yeah, sucks that there's actually stuff to do in Seattle in late April."
Otherwise? WAY better academis, something like twice as many high draft picks and overall draft picks over any meaningful timeline, no carpet-bombing of offers (offer more meaningful), a coordinator so good that UW has to pay him like some teams pay their head coach, a legit S&C program (as opposed to #FlexFriday #fillthesleeves #waxthestache), the only nationally legit defense in the whole conference--and soon to be four years running, and two out of three of the last conference championships.
Oh, and a little thing called SAM FUCKING HUARD.
So what's that pitch sound like? I just don't get it. "Come to #ScoDucks, where your Instagram feed will be 10x more lit and you might win nine games if #futuregradtransfer gets his reads down!"?

The word from Sonics1993 on Dawgman is that Oregon is calling the OKG system elitist and racist, and they're in Savell's head. Sonics1993 says it's working. Sonics1993 would be very surprised if Savell signs with UW.

The problem is that perception is reality in recruiting. We can all say how ridiculous it is that OKG is being painted in that light, but UW has to counter that narrative with action. Otherwise, there will be a faction of recruits and families that believe it. And this is a pretty big problem when you consider Smalls is already responding to it. He didn’t make it to the Spring carnival or whatever it is called. And the sad thing is, UW was beginning to hear about this in-state like two years ago and never properly dealt with it. Coach Pete, wake up!
I'm not buying that at all. Savell is a pretty smart kid. From what I understand the kid wants to study business and have a second career in it. He understands or has been told the fantastic connections he will make in the world by staying home and being a Husky. I'm sure Oregon is trying to sell the Nike angle but I don't see that as anywhere as powerful in the business world as being a hometown hero. He has been to enough real football games at Husky stadium to understand the level of fan buy in. The Spring fucked up thing is essentially meaningless. No reason for him to waste a Saturday on that. Savell will be a major test for Petersen. Get him to stay then I think you can make a strong case that the program has taken a step forward. I really don't want to consider any other outcome.

Don’t twist but I’ve heard that while Sav’ell had fun bonding with Oregon guys, this has been largely overblown. I’m always open to the need to improve our message to be the most inclusive as possible without being like Baylor or Urban Meyer, but he’s been traveling and has a bunch of trips scheduled, combined with UDUB scheduling camps/unofficials for other recruits from in and out of state that they want him present for, led to them telling him to focus on more important things.
The messaging and improved sales pitches always need to be on the forefront of our minds especially with Sav’ell. With the Botelho fail, Flowe fail, everyone associated with the UDUB program can no longer be content with hoping to get Sav’ell. The push must be to get Sav’ell committed as early as possible. I like the “give the guy time approach” but if it hasn’t worked for past elite recruits, and Sav’ell is the most important recruit in UDUB history, this is the exception to the rule. It’s time we push for Sav’ell’s commitment to UDUB by September to change the narrative and lead this change. He can be the change and he can be the leader ONLY AT UDUB. Pitch that. This is the guy you put all your shame aside for and do whatever the fuck it takes to get.
If Clemson can get guys like Trevor Lawrence, Xavier Thomas, Brian Breese, AND JOE FUCKING NGATA before the end of summer, EVERYONE AT UDUB NEEDS TO NUT UP TO GET THIS KID ASAP, AS-FUCKING-SAP.

It just seems like Pete won't change the way he does things. UW should be a no brainer for all these kids and it seems like an uphill battle. Imagine how fucked we would be if the Oregon coaches could develop the way ours do.

Smalls visited Oregon and Washington State in April, and he said there is a good likelihood both will be in his top six.
“The only schools on the West Coast I see myself going to are Oregon and Washington State,” said Smalls.
