Sark said they have to get used to losing?

Staff, true?!?!?

Am I interpreting this correctly:

And to many USC historians, one of Sarkisian’s startling postgame quotes brought back a disturbing memory.

“We’ve got to get used to it,” he said. “This is the way college football is right now.”

The late Larry Smith uttered something eerily similar after losing to Fresno State in the Freedom Bowl back in 1992. He said “the decals on helmets no longer matter,” inferring that USC was just like any other program.

Smith was fired the next day. Nobody expects that to happen to Sarkisian. Not yet, anyway. But you get the idea.

What SarkFS and SmithFS were saying without understanding it, is that coaching matters more now than ever.

This is why college football coaching is the most overpaid industry. The amount of money paid to complete stupid, also ran coaches is staggering. You're better off paying 1-1.2mm for a young OC or DC as you are paying 3mm for an experienced unaccomplished head coach. This assumes you have a competent AD who can mentor and help build a quality staff. If the young coach is lost you can fire them pretty painlessly. But, there's also a chance you catch lightening in a bottle. Either pay up for a proven winner or go "up and comer".

Michigan and Harbaugh agree with this

Any excuse anybody has for a coach should be met with a "Yeah, but what would Harbaugh do?"

Do you understand the concepts of 'market' salary and leverage?
