San Jose State/Couch Watch

Not surprisingly, most names I'm hearing for San Jose State come from the Boise State/Chris Petersen coaching tree: Notre Dame co-OC Mike Sanford, Washington OC Jonathan Smith, Washington co-DC Jimmy Lake, Wisconsin DC Justin Wilcox. SJSU athletic director Gene Bleymaier held the same post at Boise State for 30 years. If he wants to stay in the Bay Area with the next hire, Cal OC Jake Spavital could get in the mix.

Would sure sting to lose j smith, but we always knew it would be hard to keep a talent like that around.

Unless he has coordinator experience somewhere that's extremely FS. Hiring a position coach with no coordinator experience is the most retarded shit ever. And yes, I realize 2 of our last 5 HCs were never coordinators.

I don't care, so long as it's not Jimmy Lake.

Lake will leave before too long. I just hope he sticks around for another season or three in the hopes of his first HC gig being a better job than SJSU. There aren't many worse...
