Sam Huard, 5* 2021 QB, Burien (Kennedy), WA (COMMITTED)

Washington five-star quarterback commit Sam Huard continued to show why he's one of the top-ranked passers in the country over the weekend with another strong showing at the Pylon 7-on-7 National Tournament played about an hour outside of Las Vegas.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound lefty out of Burien (Wash.) Kennedy Catholic was named to the 247Sports All-Tournament Dream Team in lead his FSP squad.

"Huard was last year's MVP after helping lead FSP Blue Chip to the tourney title," 247Sports Brandon Huffman wrote. "This year, they came up short in the quarterfinals, but Huard was the best quarterback there through two days- he was just plagued by drops all weekend. The No. 1 pro-style passer nationally, he's committed to Washington."

For those of you brave enough:

Makes it look easy, as always.

Concern is who is making all these drops?

Jr and Alexander.

Pretty sure you have no idea

Pretty sure it was a joke as I rarely bring anything of factual value to the boards.

Also pretty sure the offer for you to eat my ass will always stand

So...Junior Alexa Derek made all the drops?

Or did you mean Tinae and Alexander. That would be too bad since they're the ones UW is going to get.

Those guys scare me because while they might be good, Huard would make a lot of high school WR’s look good.

The chemistry aspect might be important or it might not be. I would prefer we got maybe one to go with Egbuka and Franklin. Those guys as our top WR’s would be disappointing.

I think the familiarity/chemistry is worth something. I'm not sure how much.

Egbuka is the best HS receiver I can recall UW having a legit shot at. I'm going to puke if he doesnt go to UW. I'd be good with him and the two Kennedy guys. I'd be fine with taking all four. Franklin plus the two kennedy guys would be a great class, but there's no mitigating for missing a guy like Egbuka when he's in state.

Your Lancers are even worse than Lakes in their heyday about wasting talent. I’ve seen multiple write ups on Kennedy underclassmen defensive players, along with a fringe PAC 12 De/LB in this year’s class.

Plus they have guys like Alexander, Tinae, their RB that is going to Cal. I would think those guys could be good on defense in high school. It irritates me because it should be so fucking easy for them to field one of the best defenses in the state, but they aren’t even average. I seriously wonder what the fuck they are doing.

I think they hired the high school version of Mike Leach as their coach.

To the experts out there, what makes Huard a better high school quarterback with bigger potential than Jake Browning out of high school? Is his arm that much better at this point? His accuracy? His touch? Jake set national records in high school and probably would have great 7v7 highlights also. I am just pessimistically fearing that we might be putting Sam on a pedestal and that he ends up a left handed Browning. I see similar traits. I could be totally off base. I'll take your answers in the comments.

Arm is stronger. His touch is better. Better athlete. A little bigger. Better bloodlines. I get where you are coming from but he’s a little better in basically every area that matters.

Browning was a really good HS QB tho. And he was pretty good at UW until halfway thru his junior year.

His arm isn't Eason's but it's a full grade above Browning's.

I don't think anybody from Kennedy is being hailed as some sort of offensive genius who will be a Pac level OC in three years.

Set aside all that and as I've said before he's a fucking pied piper that skill players want to play with.

Whoever heard of a HS junior QB having a big impact on the college choice of high four star senior WR's?

He's an alpha's alpha.

I *get* the skepticism because QB Messias are about as trustworthy as the Doog Messiah, but Huard is the real thing. I've never been more confident in a recruit.

He's all conference by his sophomore year at the latest.

Get all the screenshots you need.

Exactly how I feel, the bleach is gonna be on deck

Huard's arm has gotten better in the last year. He is certainly a step above Browning at this point. His ball placement and anticipation is almost Tua level.

As far as the Messiah stuff goes, he will still need generational talent at WR and RB in order to win a CFP game. Unless he grows to 6'5" he still wont have the physicality to truly challenge a high elite defense.

I see him as a much better version of Jake Browning, like a supercharged Browning.

Need a couple generational players for sure. We also haven’t had the OL.

What would Huard being 6’5” do? Tua wasn’t big but was a championship caliber QB. Fromm was very close to winning a title too. Burrow wasn’t a physical freak.

Physicality are QB has nothing to do with title chances. It’s easy to see how we hypothetically could be very good if we landed the in state studs this year, but we still would have to beat Bama, Clemson, Ohio State, LSU, etc to win a title.

In any case, get the pieces and give yourself a chance. I’m not a natty or bust guy. It’s very likely I will never see a UW natty in my lifetime.

So, 2024 will not be speshul? Fyfmfe

We are definetlyin that pivotal point in the program where if Jimmy grows what Pete started and we can get another playoff run and go from there, or we falter under Jimmy and either except mediocrity or do a complete strip down rebuild which could take a long tim. Either way, it will be interesting. For now, the target needs to be stack conference titles

The real question is:

Is Huard's brain better than Brownsock's brain?

If Huard doesn't run backwards 40 yards and takes a sack or attempts to throw it out of bounds to the sidelines only to have a defender intercept the ball and take it to the house ... then he's already better.

35” vert

This vert is in line with top QB’s at this years combine. It would have been tied for 3rd, with only a 35.5 and 36 being better.

Eason was 27.5.

To be fair, that number may drop for huard as he puts on weight, he needs to put on enough weight to where it won't all be able to be muscle, at 6'2 he'd be pretty small at 205, and I doubt he weighs any more than 185 soaking wet

well, to be fair, Huard is like 12 years old.

Tua is fantastic moving in the pocket and making plays with his legs, combined with his accuracy and instincts he is a marvel, definitely a super rare combination of traits and capabilities.

Joe Burrow is a good athlete. He's ripped off big runs against elite defenses and kept plays alive with his legs. Not a scrambler but a nice athlete. He can make things happen under strong durress.

At 6'5" you're just that much harder to bring down with an arm tackle, can see over the OL better, and just impose your will against other athletes that much better.

I think Huard has a great chance to be the best UW QB ever, he's just not the physical freak that Trevor Lawrence or DJ Ugalelei type players are. Guys who can challenge elite defenses with their legs, size, and overall playmaking ability.
