Russ to Denver

New Broncos ownership have more money than any other ownership group in the league - something like $50 billion+. Wilson will get next season to figure it out or they'll write the check to get rid of him.

The problem is there is a salary cap, so the wealth of ownership doesn’t matter as much.

The Broncos have one potential out: purposely tank in 2023 to get Caleb Williams, cut Wilson on 6/1/2024, and pray the influx of TV money greatly raises the salary cap.

One recent lesson in the NFL is that paying big money to any QB is a mistake. It will be interesting to see how many teams have learned this going forward.

It has been a trend for awhile, but the common knowledge in the copycat league was to pay big money to any QB that had more than one season as a better than average starter.

The formula for a Super Bowl is to have a young QB or Tom Brady getting paid mid level QB money and stacking your team. The Rams were an exception, but their run is already over and they will tear it down after this season or next.

Point being on the cap is the the new owners are financially capable of eating Wilson's money by cutting him to tank for the future. They won't do that until 2024, but still.
