Yeah, 1:10 is smoking for 250 meters, but a very different endeavor than 2000 meters in which case I think bro would tire out compared with an Olympian in their 20s.
2K is also incredibly more painful and mentally difficult than CrossFit or Orange theory 250 or 500 meter feats of strength.The goal for actual rowing is a fast 2K. Performance in a 5K and longer distances is much more causal with better 2K scores than performance in 500m let alone 250m.
It's still impressive no doubt, but bro needs to cool it with "most olympic rowers can't do this" because that is not their goal. He can't do what they do either.
If you could bang out 7:15 with 3 kids right now that is very respectable.I think my best 2k was 7:15 or so. Definitely under 7:30, I do remember that.
I haven't hit a rowing machine in 6 years, though. It's a great piece of equipment for mindless exercise if you have a tv in front of you. Much more rewarding than a treadmill or elliptical.
