This match up was a coin loss for me, so I chose to be the contrarian and vote Beach Boys. Jimi is the most important electric guitarist that even lived in terms of expanding the vocabulary of the instrument. All three of his studio albums are classics and absolutely essential. Still, Brian Wilson's influence on the course of popular music can not be overstated. The Beatles with Revolver and Pepper and Beach Boys with Pet Sounds / Good Vibrations were the two most important groups in the critical years between 1965 and 1967 in terms of re-writing the rules of what rock could be.

I know Hendrix is going to win. I just want to make sure the BBs get their due.

If you expect the Beach Boys to get their due against Jimi Hendrix in a Seattle centric college football message bored, I can't help you.

I'm lying in bed just like Brian Wilson did.

BTW, the Barenaked Ladies got fucked not being included in the 90's poll.

Hendrix played like what...3 years.

Doog legend

Well the Beach Boys were really only relevant artistically and commercially for about 3 years- i.e., 1963- 66. In 1967 they suffered the biggest collapse in the history of rock and never regained their critical standing. So this part of the debate is pretty much a tie.
