His highlights were more him just running over people while Gaskin's showcased his vision and elusiveness a bit more. The big back argument is vastly overrated to me as what is a big back and what's the purpose of one?

As with most things, all things being equal you take the size ... but I'd take talent ahead of size

I would consider a big back a RB that's 215+, a medium back is 200-215, and a small back less than 200. The purpose is having a big motherfucker that can break tackles, get yards after contact, and wear down defenses so that your team can finish strong in the fourth quarter against a defense that's tired of tackling a big motherfucker. But no I'm sure your right and every NFL coach is wrong and every college coach winning national championships is wrong. You guys are right. Big backs don't matter. What was I thinking.

Big back in terms of size, yes. Power back in terms of physicality, no. He's more of a finesse back which is why he's a 3rd string back up and the starter is 250 lb Feast Mode.

He may be. We'll see when Warren is back and healthy this season. I think Coleman is better than Gaskin too. Coleman wasn't recruited by Pete and this discussion started with me saying I want Chris Brown over Fig Newton. Coach Pete has yet to recruit a real big back. Salvon will be great but it's damn hard to do it all himself. Even Reggie Bush had LenDale White to help carry the load.

And Salvon won't do it all by himself either. He'll have McGrew and Pleasant and Brown or Newton and maybe Lowe.

Of course you need multiple backs, no ones arguing otherwise.

Not to mention that the term "power back" doesn't really refer to weight. Judging whether a guy is a power back based solely on his weight is the kind of analysis that a not-particularly bright fifth grader would do.
