$4 million was not enough to get him to move. As I said from the beginning, $5.5 or GTFO.

We went for a hometown guy and didn't even bother to bring him back to his hometown! Getting Mora to walk away from a potential 2014 championship team at UCLA was always about playing to his heart, not his head. If you can't even convince him to visit his hometown where he still has a house for an interview, then you're not trying.

The dude is rich. If Woodward thought all he had to do is wave some cash in front of Mora and he'd get him then he's an idiot. It was about romancing him, painting the picture of creating a legacy. Ecklund told us from the beginning that Mora doesn't like Woodward. Woodward had to demonstrate major commitment to building something here, not just open a briefcase.

IMO, it wasn't that Pool Boy didn't really want Mora here, it's that he failed to understand how to recruit him. We're going to end up with someone campaigning for the job because we don't have the ability to sell the job to someone who has a great situation already.

I call bullshit on this. If I'm not mistaken, Wazzu interviewed exactly one coach when they hired Leach. There's no law or rule that says you have to interview multiple candidates.
