Because there are too many stupid/ignorant people who can’t tell the difference. I remember when Comedy Central first started airing “The Colbert Report”. So many people had their panties in a twist thinking the station had given some right wing commentator a platform.

No, watch the show and you realize it’s making fun of Fox News-types.

The most extreme example being when the Bush White House allowed him to be the keynote speaker at the Correspondent's Dinner then got suuuuuper pissed after he famously roasted them!
