Race Bannon's OFFICIAL Golf Talk 2023-2024 Thread

Pebble in a lot of ways is like St Andrews at this point … if the course plays vanilla it can be overpowered
That said, there's a big difference between Pebble in February and in the summer months when you can grow the rough in (and thick) and also ramp up the speed of the greens where missing on the high side of any hole can lead to a quick bogey.
Also, given the pro-am aspect, there's a bit of a vanilla aspect that has to be played in order to not overwhelm the casual … it's not the birdie fest that Palm Springs is.

Golf season officially starts this week in Scottsdale. Next week is the best non major tournament of the year at Rivera. I played there like ten years ago, it's really an incredible course and my favorite that I've played anywhere. Fun fact, the Japanese billionaire that owns it and shows up once every three years or so has his own dedicated putting green that no one else is allowed on, yet it gets maintained just like the rest of them every day.
It really sucks that the tour basically nose dives in venues after next week. Sawgrass in May is way better than March also. Fuck the PGA Tour and PGA Championship.

Nobody said this was about improving the sport. It's only about money (duh). The PGA can continue to root itself in history and tradition, and the players will all take the LIV money.
