Jonathan Flowe, 4-star outside linebacker, commits to Oregon Ducks

“On Friday, the Oregon Ducks and Alabama three-star defensive end/outside linebacker Christian Burkhalter mutually parted ways and he announced his commitment to UCLA.

But what was Oregon’s end of that decision, and when would the proverbial other shoe drop?

It all came together Tuesday, as 247Sports composite four-star linebacker Jonathan Flowe announced his commitment to the Ducks:

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound ‘backer, out of Upland High School, is rated the nation’s No. 218 overall prospect and the No. 13 outside linebacker with a scholarship offer sheet that began years ago, highlighted by Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami (Fla.), Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, Washington and others.”

The question was whether he was going to qualify. Most, even the Ducks thought he was going to have to go the JC route. It wasn’t a question of whether he wanted to be at Oregon but COULD he be admitted to Oregon. Obviously the kid worked damned hard on his academics.

He’s that great undersized LB/oversized safety like LaMar Winston and Adrian Jackson that Leavitt put an emphasis on and Avalos has deemphasized. Good piece for whomever the DC is in a post Avalotti world.

Jonathan Flowe had 25 Division 1 offers including tOSU, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, Miami, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas and 6 PAC 12 teams INCLUDING WASHINGTON.
