Question for the bored regarding retreads?

Are there any good examples of a head coach having been fired from one college gig going on to enjoy sustained success at another?

I can't think of one.

Idk how much you wanna weight this as sustained success… but Mario Cristobal got fired from FIU.

If we’re counting being fired in the NFL… Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick

If Race Bannon had had his way, Don James would have been fired in 1988 and gone on to lead some other team to three straight New Year's bowls.

I have to add Crisco because it's a great example of my narrative of how shit that NEVER works anywhere magically works at Oregon.

The retread thing to me is similar to regular jobs. How many people who get fired from a job are really elite at their job? This is coming from someone who has been fired from their job, so I know.

Race is not always right

Meat might be a good example.

Don’t count NFL retreads as this is totally different

Mike Leach? Not many can win at WSU he did pretty well given the handicap

Wasn’t big tits cristoball fired?

Leach won one Apple cup. That’s it.

Dude still had a winning record. Not like WSU is amazing place to recruit at. Dude did not implode like jimmy lake

Leach also wasn’t fired for on field performance.

Meat isn't a great example because I’m pretty sure his first job was at a school playing football for the first time ever.

I can’t think of a college coach who was fired for on field performance that came back better at a future job.

Does the reverse count? Because I thought Kingsbury would be a complete failure at Arizona.

DJ would have won a natty at ASU.

John Cooper and Bruce Snyder (hi pup) *almost* did

Bobby Petrino?

Fired by Arkansas, went back to Louisville, got Lamar Jackson, won 8 & 9 games each year for 4 years, then got fired again.

Is 8-5 9-4 8-5 9-4 sustained success?
