He’s weirdly non controversial for someone with his alleged criminal background. Most people know who he his and think of him as a lovable stoner.

People like Snoop Dogg because most people don't know much about him. No idea that he owned a porn production company, pimped women, etc. To them, he's just the rap version of Willie Nelson that has given a ton back to youth sports in his community, which he has. And, really, that's exactly what he is these days regardless of his past.

Plus, people who were his original fan base as teenagers and 20 somethings are now well into our 40s and 50s and are the suburban crowd. It’s actually pretty impressive how he’s managed to stay famous for over 30 years without having a hit song for like 20.
I think he was selected to represent because he's a degenerate, in the same way that TPTB made Lizzo or Cardi B famous. It wasn't any special talent he has.

He’s legitimately talented. His work on the Chronic and Doggystyle were legendary. He had the ability to make a hook out of like three words just by his pronunciation.
Had an excellent vibe and was part of a few legit legit bangers. Was a pioneer of basically being an influencer as someone who doesnt really do anything relevant artistically but is always around.
I forget all the time about the murder charge and can’t remember at all if he possibly was guilty.
