PSA: The comparison with Lake is Gilby

Gladstone

New Fish
Gilby. Not Ty. The constant Ty comparisons — however true — are going to introduce unneeded optics that will unnecessarily complicate something that should be straightforward.

Gilby was a decent coordinator, took over a relatively talented team from a Rose Bowl winning coach, and plummeted it to 1-11 by year 2 despite the cries of many that his year one 6-6 campaign had all kinds of program killing warning signs.

Lake is Gilby.

PSA over.

Or Lambo

Going 7-4 with the roster he had in 93 was a giant red flag

In terms of performance it’s no doubt Gilby/Jimmy

In terms of stupid ass soundbites … Jimmy is feeling more Ty than Gilby to me

Regardless, if you’re being compared to either it should be Door.Ass.Out

2020-OSU, Stanford and Utah all should have been losses. He won instead

2021 so far-Montana and Oregon State should have been wins. He lost. This team is getting worse by every metric imaginable.

Jimmy is what Pete was for 3 out of his 6 years at UW, but a little shittier than that even.

6-8 wins, bend and break, overly conservative D. Get up by at least 10 at half and you're really conservative on both sides of the ball and holding on, and the opponent knows it. And absolutely shit offense in need of a Gaskin-type to keep the sticks moving to apologize for bad play calling/scheme (this year that's McGrew).

Pete lost to Utah, Arizona, Cal, Graham ASU, all sorts of teams he should have handled. Jimmy's just done it with Beavlet and Montana (Pete barely scraped by Eastern).

The funny thing about Lambo is that I was never really embarrassed to be a Husky Fan during his reign of terror.

Dude is probably winning 3-4 games. This is not close.

I was

And I was pissed off

Still am

It doesn't seem to matter though

Not Stanford. That was a loss

But you catch my drift

I'm tempted to make a Gilby > Jimmy POTD.

As an assistant, Gilby was the coordinator for a natty. Gilby also had two head coaching jobs - at Idaho where he kicked fucking ass in the Big Sky and also at Cal where, ok...not so great - but Cal too high any way.

Jimmy was part of a coaching staff that got blasted by Alabama.

Advantage: Gilby

A 6-1 finish for Jimmy seems unlikely

Lake will need a miracle to even sniff 6 wins and this roster is arguably better than any squad CP had from top to bottom.

Pete had to win out to get to 500 and get to a bowl against Southern Fried Chicken U in 2015.

Won 8 because he got Hawaii and a super shit schedule in 14. Hawaii, Georgia State, Eastern (they might be a loss now but they gave up 50 to Cyler that year)

I said Jimmy's a bit shittier so don't twist.

This team has only begun to quit. They still have the talent to play up when they are motivated. Once any remaining motivation runs dry and they quit in earnest it's going to get a lot worse.

4 minimum because of the Apple Cup and Arizona.

There will be a blowout loss somewhere in there from UCLA/ASU/Oregon.

But it's been close losses in every game except Mishitagain.
