In 2025 it is possible that Russia, for all its faults, represents a better partner for the US than Europe
And all the screaming banshees going RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA shouldn't stop us from considering it
Russia isn't committing cultural suicide like most of the west. Europe is going full authoritarian and canceling elections to save democracy and jailing folks for memes
If everyone is bad then chose what is best for the US. And it puts China on the defensive. Canada and a lot of Europe are bought and paid for by China - the real threat to the US
Don't necessarily disagree, just the historical revisionism to make Russians into "good guys" to make it anything other than realpolitik what that move is.
Don't also forget that Washington until a month ago was complicit in setting the path for Europe on those things. We? Can and should be the force for liberty and influence Europe in that direction. Their people want it, their elites don't. Same as here.
We? can have Europe and Russia as partners against China. They don't even have to like each other to make it happen. Ffs they still are trading natural gas ha.

Fuck vanilla @PurpleThrobber
The point was Russia didn't altruistically sacrifice themselves in WW2.
They were an axis aligned aggressor until the Germans betrayed them.
Then afterwards they were an occupying force that did everything they could to oppress the people in those states.
There was never any "liberation" to be thankful for.
Point of order. According to the seminal "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich", Stalin knew the German's were likely to betray him so he used this "alignment" as buying time to build up his military forces for the inevitable confrontation.

.
Yes, betray him in his plan to carve up eastern Europe into feudal tributary states while committing genocides.
Hitler AND Stalin can be bad. Both can be true.
