Quoting OC Jonathan Smith on Stanford’s defense, John Ross and Jesse Callier
(On Stanford’s defense) “I just see a good defense. We’ve studied last year’s tape, a couple of games, this year’s obviously. They play really hard. I think they’ve got a lot of good players on that side of the ball. Very sound, schematically. You’re not seeing a bunch of big plays, busted coverages. You’re not seeing much of that from these guys. I think it’s a stiff, stiff challenge.”

Dude is running the ball 66% of the time.

He might go down as my favorite Husky OC of All-Time.

I realize a lot of people only remember Little Johnny Smith as the QB for OSU. Get past it. Guy is a good coach.

I'm in full on LIPO mode with Smith. He hasn't done anything to ruin my sweats yet, but we'll see what happens when the real games start.

This. I have nothing against him, but I don't know how anyone could call him a good coach already. In any event, if the offense sucks, Petersen should get the blame because ultimately he is in charge. As a former coordinator and a damn good one, he should be able to point Smith in the right direction. Not to mention, he can probably veto any play calls he doesn't like.

The cruel irony of it: Sark should have given up play calling to an OC who was better. Petersen won't take it back.

Playcalling wasn't really the issue with Sark, it was that he (and his old bff Kiff) was so tied up in it that the rest of the team suffered from lack of oversight and detail.

And that his play calling sucked. But let's not get lost in the details

Minor discrepancy. I blame Herbie for taking his Playcalling fucktardedness to another stratosphere.
