Pounding Cupcakes

@YellowSnow doesn’t fancy himself as a bait fisherman, but when he wants to, he can roll out some good shit that will make even the most finicky of HH posters bite
When I first started posting here @creepycoug tried to bully me pretty hard in some run of the mill "USC Respects Us, Damn It!!" thread. And while I could never match Creep in technically gifted, philosopher king prose, us row peter puffers know how to take a punch and fight back in a thoughtful manner. Ergo, a high level of mutual respeck was formed.

You sound defensive.
That's because I am defensive.
Short bus rides implies no air travel and being home. hth
Well, it doesn't help in light of your position on USC and UCLA; but given your head injury, we can just leave it there.
First time in 221 games, over 18 years, that Nebraska was shut out. First time. Who cares? I care. And the voters cared.

Meh. I used to be hard case before I took the big walk. I'm better now.
Peter Puffers can go the distance. Respeck that instead of USC.

Lets not forget that Me-ah-me gave up 9 points to Arizona that year and couldn't even get past 40 poonts. Embarrassing.

Let us also not forget that @creepycoug is a riddle wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. A UW alumnus from the Harb, but whose true love is the Canes, all the while posing a Kewg. It just don't make no god damned sense!

@creepycoug That was a great Miami team. No doubt, it really was. It was nice to see them put up 460 yards on Nebraska but lest we forget UW hung over 620 on them in Lincoln. Miami also had a month to get their option reads down. UW had a week. By late second quarter Nebraska had nothing left offensively on my Dwags. UW had it all sniffed out. Yes FSU scored 51 on Michigan, they also gave up 31 to a team UW was up on 34-7 until Wheatley ran for 70 on the second string defense late in the game. Oh Don James, you classy fucker. That Rose Bowl could have been 48-7 if DJ was say, Dennis Erickson. Just my 2 cents brother, nothing personal.

Always said UW's offensive output in that game was impressive. Those are fair points.
Florida State kicked the shit out of Michigan and put more points on them than anyone had in eons. They forced Grbac into a bunch of interceptions and some of Michigan's 31 was scored after the game was out of reach. It's fine, that was the system back then and nobody's going to take the shine off that Rose Bowl win. But it is what it is. Different day, different game.
All I was saying is that Miami kicked the living shit out of Nebraska, and they did. Sometimes the point total doesn't always capture the game. Nebraska wasn't in the game for a single second. It was apparent from the opening kick-off that they were going to get their shit pushed in. Water fountains, bus rides and hotels didn't mean shit.

Probably a cuog posing as a husky posing as a coug trying to try and make husky fans look bad. Who does that shit?

@creepycoug's energy output in this thread is enough to power a small New England town a small Cuban village.

I think multiple things can true at once in this age old debate.
Yes, @creepycoug is right that Miamuh hosting Big Red in the Orange Bowl ain't quite like UW hosting Nebraska for a home game in Seattle. This is fair.
But at the same, time UW going into Lincoln early in the season ain't like Miamuh playing Nebraska down the street from Coral Gables.
I'm also a traditionalist who never had a problem with the old ways of College Football and co-national champs. The BCS was NOT an improvement for the sport in my opinion.

The BCS was Eve's bite of the forbidden fruit that led us to this unholy abortion of college football.
Old man lawn comment incoming: the old system was just fine.
But sure, let James Madison, Tulane or Navy into the playoff. IDRGAF anymore.

Ultimately I think some form of championship and playoff was right for college football I guess, but the beauty of this thread is an underrated BI-product of the weird ass way college football was organized in it's prime. 35 years later we have two happy fanbases arguing about who was better and it will last until we all die of the AIDs this site and microplastics give us.
The inverse of this is 84 were Dwag fans probably should have another true national title but were robbed by the old system (probably).

It's an abortion no doubt @creepycoug . Something that's evil and unholy.
@Dennis_DeYoung always summed it up best- i.e., that it's really hard to make and NFL model work for a highly regional sport with huge disparities in scheduling, resources, etc. It was a better sport where where you had like 4 or 5 Super Bowls- i.e., winning the Rose, Sugar, Orange, Cotton, Fiesta, etc. If you got a Natty it was just icing on the cake.
I believe it was the most evil and unholy program in CFB, Pedo State, which got butt hurt (lulz) which cause the B1G to fold and give up the Rose Bowl right?

Listen, I say this as a die-hard Canes fan whose team would likely have one and even maybe two more natties under the current system ('88 and '90): the old system was awesome for the reasons given by Yella and you just now. It made it interesting and fun and it made you feel like you had equity in something local or regional to you.
