As for the blue chip ratio breakdown...

Seniors: 4/17 (27%)
Juniors: 11/17 (65%)
Sophomores: 3/10 (30%)
Freshmen: 27/42 (64%)

Overall: 45/86 (52.3%)

Awkward Sophomore class due to the new redshirt rules. It will be interesting to see how they try to balance out the classes the next few years.

The DL and ILB holes are almost comical. Given that every single freshman redshirted, there’s going to be a lot more unknowns than usual headed into spring and fall camps. So, you know, it’ll be interesting.

By redshirting the whole 2018 class, you essentially expanded the national championship wave. The 2018-2021 classes will now get two years to play together instead of only one.

Take out the specialists, and we are 50% freshman (41 freshmen out of 82 players).

We are young.

Forever young.

17 per class is the absolute perfect number (17x5 =85). So the Junior and Senior classes worked out well. If the new redshirt rule didn't exist, the Sophomore class would likely be right at about 17 as well.

Couple of thoughts:

1) Obviously we are 1 over the number but that will flush itself out rather easily with someone either leaving prior/after Spring to get an opportunity to play elsewhere, etc. ... there are some obvious candidates

2) I'd put next year's class at somewhere in the 19-22 range right now ... there's a few early entry candidates and/or additional transfers

3) The D depth looks brutal when it comes to freshman needing to step up ... I know that there's a lot of talented guys but the reality is that there's a lot of youth and it's going to have growing pains. The Offense will need to take steps forward so it's a good thing that Eason will be able to hit the ground running.

4) Speaking of D, the good news is that we will have 9 Junior/Senior players in the rotation ... so there's some experience to fall back on.

5) I'd expect that we'll be going after a punter as part of next year's class ... having a high end one is a weapon when playing against top end teams.

@HuskyClaws did you do the green/tan coloring based on 247 ratings or composite? I could have sworn Troy Fautanu was at least a 4 star on 247. Also, fuck composite. Never use it. Anyway, there might be another, but I am pretty sure Troy was a 4. Was Dom Hampton a 4 on 247 but a 3 everywhere else (FTG's)?

Fautanu was a 4 star on both Composite (374) overall and 247 (214 overall) in the final rankings. He should be green which moves the total to 46 blue chips.

#MyHampton was a 3 star on 247 and Composite but a 5 star in my heart.

TYFYS. I knew Troy was, wasn't sure on Dom, but everything else looked right to me?

Let's take a moment to remember that this staff turned a 5-11.75, 215 LB into an All American.

That chart is like a yellow to green flow chart, right to left. As we keep recruiting like this...

Last two classes we've signed 42 kids... only 14 have been non-blue chip. If you double that to get a full roster...

84 kids, 56 blue chips, 28 non.

Again, in this case the non-blue chips don't matter. As long as you get ratios like that - if Drew Fowler starts... FINE! He's earned it. He beat out Heimuli and Jack Sirmon. No big deal.

But, when you see that and you think about how special 2022 is going to be, your head could explode.

247. And yes, you are correct. Fautanu should be green. I did not change my chart after the final 247 rankings update.

Updated numbers...
Freshmen: 28/42 (67%)

Overall: 46/86 (53.5%)
