Post-election update on my far Left Mom

Hilarious text last night from a broken woman regarding my younger daughter I mentioned in this thread.
Just saw *********’s instagram post. I’m proud of her for standing up for her beliefs. I hope you thought about your daughters when deciding how to vote.
Divisiveness to the bitter end, while no doubt crying out for unity.

Yes, exactly, it’s her religion. People believe that religion has to involve believing and worshiping a higher power, but that isn’t the only religion. We all worship something. for example, wokeness has become a prominent religion in America, as people believe their identity gives them some higher meaning, purpose, or value; this simply isn’t true.
Many on the left (and right) view politics as their identity because it is what will save them from pain, heartache, despair, etc. There is no situation which a political agenda can bring a utopia, an unending bliss. It isn’t possible. No matter how hard one tries to avoid it, they will have to suffer.

Some people even worship sports, but that will never save anyone either. I have seen grown men go, “If I could just see my team win a championship, I would be happy.” No, no you won’t. You will have a temporary mountain top moment where you will be riding high for a couple days, then reality sets in. You can never win in sports. Look at Michigan, most fans would kill to have their college win a national championship, yet their fans are at each others throats a year later. New England won 6 titles in less than 20 years, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at their fans, who are miserable in 2024. It’s a cycle that never ends; it can never and will never save anyone from whatever they are trying to be saved from.
This sounds like everyone of my relationships. Hence me living on a ranch with my dogs.

Your mom needs to realize that politics won’t save her. You can tell her PineapplePirate told her that.
Ha!
It is ridiculous, however.
My input on a brothers’ text chain. This stuff does have real-life repercussions and the people being paid to spread the hate don’t give a shit about the human cost of it.
It’s ridiculous that we have to walk on eggshells around Mom over an election that in reality has minimal impact on our daily lives. Mom is completely brainwashed. Propaganda and cultism works and it’s to the point she views Trump supporters as almost sub-human.
I’m not bringing it up to her, but I’m not coddling her on it either, and I certainly am not going to sympathize for her after she’s allowed herself to get this emotionally invested in politicians over her own family.
It quite literally is her religion, and she’s a fundamentalist.
Send her an invite! @HHusky could take her under his wing.

Check out this screenshot of me invalidating my mother's feelings and fears about death. She sure is a crazy lonely lib, huh?
This is twisted stuff and demands family counseling, post haste.

”Family counseling” JFC you’re even softer than I thought.
Making a thread about your clear mummy issues, in order to mock your mother and share screenshots from your dysfunctional relationship for clicks might very well be the softest shit I've ever seen on the internet. Also the weirdest.

I think it’s a good example of how lonely people are manipulated by the media, Ern.
Mock away because you’re the exact same person she is due to your information bubble, Retard. Self-reflection for you? Nope, stick with what isn’t working and keep wondering why.

You’re as programmed as she is, bud. What happened to the “Trump is Hitler” bullshit? Surely the politicians calling him this would not allow a peaceful transition of power if they believed it.
It was all to scare gullible people who view Democrats as your religion.
People like you and my mom.

Conversation with one of my brothers last night. Needless to say she’s not handling it well. This is what 24/7 MSNBC, the evening CBS news, and nothing more to do at age 78 (and widowed) does to an otherwise decent and caring person.

Jesus. That could well be a text exchange between me and my mom. Are we related?

Ern has thoughts on mental stability.

I maintain this is a weird public display of fucked up individual and family dynamics and OP could probably use some professional intervention. Mostly on an individual level.
Elderly lonely mom is the victim in this exchange, as presented, being gaslit by her son into thinking her thoughts about political ramifications and her mortality are invalid and that she needs to relax. In the immediate aftermath, no less, when emotions are running high.
And then that son posts the exchange, makes it political, and presents her completely normal behavior as something to be laughed about. After all, she's a lonely widow and watches MSNBC, he says. Okay.
It's weird stuff. The best part was when Mom said fuck off.

Being this heavily invested emotionally in the Tug is always a sign of mental stability.
