Since I'm not a TBSer, could @CokeGreaterThanPepsi give me a quick rundown of why Strausser is a subpar recruiter? I thought he had a good history of developing talent. What's the deal here?

Can't relate to kids. Has no personality.
That's it.
If kids chose off his track record, we'd be killing it. But kids are dumb, so they pass him up for places where they have coaches that "bond" with them more.
Sad, but they don't pay the big bucks to him for him to be a HS coach. Recruiting is 40-50% of the job for a college coach. He needs to get a personality transplant or take some sales classes.

Social media and texting really changed the game. Coaching staffs used to have guys who coached and other guys who mostly recruited.
Some would do both and obviously kids would meet their position coaches and the coordinator's on their visit, but it was much different.
Guys like Strausser have kind of became dinosaurs in today's game. I get it. I wouldn't want to talk to 16 and 17 year olds either, but you have to.
Hopefully pumping out NFL OL the next year or two will help, but kids still need to be sold and the evidence mostly points to that not happening. At least he can coach.

Tequilla and Kim Grinolds should get together and teach courses on sales and marketing.
