Ryan Finley is tough to crack. He's skinny...really skinny at 6'4" 200 lbs. He used to be even skinnier. He's supposedly very smart, and his best asset is he has a quick release. I honestly don't know if he's any good or not, things have been hit and miss at QB since Moore graduated.
He also likes rap music.
McNichols has the potential to be very good. He's much quicker and faster than Ajayi, but not nearly as powerful (few RBs are). I'm guessing we'll see a sizable drop off there. Jay could do it all, whereas the other RBs are good at one or two things, but none appear to be complete workhorse types.
Players to watch on offense:
WR Thomas Sperbeck - This dude makes absolutely no sense. 6'0" 185 lbs white dude. When we recruited him, I personally thought he was a waste of a scholarship. Special teams guy. 2 years later he's dropping 200 receiving yards on Arizona in the Fiesta Bowl. He is a slippery little bastard with excellent route running skills.
WR Chaz Anderson - Chaz is a converted corner who is a
solid deep threat. Word from camp is he's made a big jump this off-season.
TE Jake Roh - You'll probably hear his name a lot. He's not particularly dangerous, but he catches a lot of passes in this offense.
Overall, I don't think this offense is particularly dangerous just yet. Hedrick and Ajayi were a mean tandem, and it's unlikely they'll be easily replaced right away. It's been years since Boise State's offense started off a season well. I'm guessing we'll score somewhere between 17-28 points.
...and no, I've settled on a prediction of 27-19 Broncos, but really I'm open to anything happening. I was convinced we'd play UW well in 2013, and I don't think I've ever been so wrong about a result. After that debacle, I'm not going to be surprised if UW gets us again. Some teams just have your number.
