So the BMW playoff is the rotting carcass of the venerable Western Open, the third oldest tournament behind the Open and the US Open. Golf brags about tradition but runs on money like everything else. They made it a playoff in 2007 and BMW signed on and now its just another tournament. West Baltimore this year. Scott Verplank won it as an amateur. Tiger won it twice. Not sure why Medina isn't used. Chicago, NY, and Miami have no tour stop. New York used to have the Westchester Open
