What’s going on at SC has so many implications for UW over the next 5-10 years

IF SC continues to fuck shit up badly (and there is no indication that they won’t continue to) it only furthers help to strengthen UW’s recruiting position out West

My main concern is whether the Pac12 can survive with the ever increasing percentage of West-Coast kids, predominantly from Southern California leaving to go to other conferences. Bad LA schools means kids won’t go there, but that doesn’t mean the just choose to go to the other Pac12 schools. For the elite recruits it means more and more choosing to leave to other conferences, waters down the conference quality of product which ultimately makes even the top Pac12 teams like us less desirable down the road. This has already been happening for years now, but the decline of LA schools has and will continue to speed this up exponentially. Yes, it will benefit UW in our own recruiting specifically in the short term with the LA schools dicking around in their own incompetence, but is there a longer lasting impact to the conference that would inherently hurt us in the future?

There's always examples of a Ngata going to Clemson and shit. Thats not new.

I dont think it's very likely it will get to the point where the pac12 is such a wasteland that its a huge recruiting issue.

Besides, we have the Poly movement on our side. As long as we don't fuck it up we'll always get fair share and then some of high end talent as its already happening.

Non-west coast schools have their own talent pools and the spillage isn't an issue. Theres too much geographical considerations to consider.

We take now because croots choose us on our own merits and it's becoming more common. When was the last time National level west coast and Cali croots have left usc off their top 5?

It's happening this year. Tuitele? To'ot'o? Others? Exciting shit. We can only hope they keep helton for a few more years.

He's exactly right on all of it. The whole point of the spread offense and reliance on offensive wizardry is to make up the deficiencies of smaller schools getting lesser overall talent, particularly on the lines. That's shouldn't be USC. FWIW, this year we have 15 verbals and USC has 14. Of those, they have two commits over 260 lbs., we have six. Last year, they had four commits over 260, we had seven. They waste all those scholarships on low hanging fruit like WRs, RBs and LBs. The kind of guys that are a dime a dozen in high school. And the evaluation seems to be bad. I could recruit for USC off of 247's rankings and it wouldn't look any different. They have three 4-star plus QBs on the roster, and two of them can't throw.
