So for our non UW folks and/or former Seattleites, Windermere Cup / Opening Day is a joint production between UW and the Seattle Yacht Club to celebrate the opening of yachting season. Basically they set up two log booms out on Union Bay past Husky Stadium and everyone docks their yachts for a few days and gets really hammered. Windermere sponsors the thing so UW can invite a few different national teams each year. After about 2 hours of row boat racing, they have a big yacht parade. Lather, rinse, repeat for about 50 years now.
