It’s sad, but at this point, I care more about the NFL than CFB, and not just because the Hawks won the SB, I’ve been saying it for months. They’ve pretty much nuked all the reasons CFB was more attractive than the NFL. I just don’t see the value in emotionally investing in it anymore. The NFL now has more roster stability than CFB. It’s a fuckin joke.
Now that football is over, my interest in sports is at its lowest point since Covid. I want to be excited for baseball this year, but the Dodgers winning with their $6 trillion payroll is a foregone conclusion, and they’ll probably trade for Skubal before the deadline. I couldn’t care any less about the NBA, I can’t seem to care about hockey or soccer, NASCAR is full of fags who’ve never smoked a cigarette, and golf hasn’t been the same since Tiger died for the 3rd time.

Of course the differences in 2026 vs 2016 America (i.e., politics) play a big role.

The folks on X/Capel that don’t post here anymore are almost 100% due to politics. They left because the idea of fraternizing with deplorable’s was beneath them. I don’t agree with everything Race, Throbber or Ern and JW have to say in the Tug but each are entitled to their opinions. I’m man enough to separate church and state. Others who left never to return were not. That’s soft shell.

They backed off of it immediately and put it on Chest to admin it, killed their pod, a few went into hiding and the explanation was that "they're busy" even though one of them basically lives on X 24/7 from what I can see to this day.
So yeah that was part of it.
Agree on sports in general, after the last 5 years people just get tired of being ripped off and I get it.
But just months ago the Seahawks were threatening their own season ticket holders and their was legit fear that SF, Chicago, Green Bay fans would embarrass them in terms of turnout.
I watched a 2+ hour movie at the theater that started at the same time as the game, drove a town over to get food and it was STILL halftime. One of the most dominant teams in terms of run was ahead 9-0. Never been so satisfied to watch < 5 minutes of the game and do other things.
All but a few teams (due to the owners) just suck for awhile until they build lines through the draft. Field is too small for the athletes. San Francisco being a real contender for as long as they have is more impressive than what Seattle does where they just suck for 8-10 years and then their lines are built up and they're at least in the NFCCG. Which they weren't even in that conference for decades so the rivalry shit with SF is stupid as fuck.

I hope you’re right and it does restabilize, I’ve just yet to see any evidence of that at this point. CFB is no longer the sport we all fell in love with, and it’s hard to see a path back to anything resembling that. Maybe it’s possible if they can reign in the portal and all the bullshit that’s come with that, but it’s going to be really hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube. It’s a free for all at this point, and it’s going to take a court case or government intervention to walk it back. The NCAA is spineless, brainless, heartless, hopeless, and dickless. I'd prefer not to have to pay the kids, but am willing to compromise. If they can get some common sense regs in place on portal and compensation to create some stability then I can see my interest level rising.
