Oregon Hires Jim Leavitt as DC

This is kind of an idiot thread now. We actually got third and fourth down stops against UW on Saturday.

Know how many times we stopped UW last year? ZERO.

Progress is progress.

It was tied after the third quarter in 2007 post of the year

"defense was better" =/= moral victory bullshit Doogman poasting, sorry.

A moral victory occurs when a person, team, army or other group loses a confrontation, and yet achieves some other moral gain.

In your case, the moral gain was that the "defense was better".

Your post is the very definition of a moral victory.

moral victory =/= silver lining

explain

Sure. We got our ass beat. Yet one of the few bright spots was the defense getting some stops where last year they got exactly none. So it's a silver lining.

Things still look pretty shitty, but Leavitt's defense is by all accounts an improvement (and a substantial one at that) on the ridiculous shit trotted out by Helfrich and Hoke last season.

Also too: Moral victory - a defeat that can be interpreted as a victory on moral terms, for example because the defeated party defended their principles.

Silver lining - a sign of hope in an unfortunate or gloomy situation; a bright prospect."
