Actually, Herbert was a 3* recruit coming out of high school, primarily because he didn’t spend his time doing the camp circuit. He was not highly recruited.
Throw back athlete who competed in football, basketball and baseball at Sheldon High School in Eugene.
He won the starting job part way through his true freshman season.
Three different head coaches and three different offensive coordinators in his four years at Oregon . . .
