So even though he was ranked a 4 star recruit by Rivals and Scout, he only had offers from UW, Vandy, Boise State, and Arizona. If I had to guess, Sloppy Steve took 2 QBs (Miles and Williams) who were mobile QBs first and looked the part but weren't students of the game and were found to be lacking in the intangibles that a QB needs to win consistently. On the outside, we obviously don't know if KJCS (or Browning) has "IT" when it comes to CFB but one has to imagine they do based off of the QB play Petersen got out of his guys before coming to UW.

The thesis is that the Magna Carta family is pretty fucking smart.

If I recall right, he went to high school at a fairly brainy place in the Bay Area.

I firmly believe that being a good QB is as much (if not more) about things outside of your athletic ability than your athletic ability. Sure, you have to be able to have a good/great arm, etc. to be a QB. But your ability to read defenses, manipulate defenders, inspire confidence in your teammates, and get your team out of bad plays and into good plays.

Why not slaughter a goat and read its entrails? About as effective as projecting a younger brother based on the "intangibles" thought to be apparent in his older one.

KJCS went to Bellermine Prep in San Jose. It's your standard Catholic School. Good not great academics, good athletics. Definitely not a brainy place. They have a solid football program that has occasionally produced Pac12 level players in the past, but no one exceptional.

I actually looked up the school's wikipedia page to verify my memory, I saw that Nick Holt, Football Genius, is actually an alum.

And for whatever it's worth, I know UCLA recruited him pretty heavily as they were scrambling for QBs last year. They took someone else but they definitely were recruiting him late.

Kim claims that when asking the coaches which player they expect to make a big splash next year, the first name mentioned is always Magna Carta. Last year it was Lavon Coleman so take otfor what its worth.
