There is a strong Hawaiian/Polynesian community in the Seattle area, extending way beyond UW. I dated a woman from Hawaii and she said that around the islands, Seattle is just known as a great place to live with a lot of people of Pacific Island heritage. Lots of cultural celebrations, etc.
