I think a lot of the old guard has had enough. Late kick offs, bull shit uniforms, terrible product, Husky Stadium being so commercialized, etc.
I don't blame him for not going to the game. It's a lame opponent plus a late kick off.
I really hope we have a bad turnout that will speak volumes to the administration more than anything.
I can only speak for a few, but I think the
old guard that's still hanging around Husky Football is conditioned to being disappointed while not having great expectations. It's a really weird deal, but most of us do at our time of life have other interests even if it's nothing more than reading good books, collecting concert DVD's, building a digitized music library, fly fishing for trout, salmon fishing, travel, etc etc.
Senior Dawgfans can like everybody else hope for a return of Husky Football to the glory we once enjoyed so long ago, but while we can get truly pissed off following embarrassments like today, UW's football program is no longer worth losing sleep over. If complaining, growling, or simply expressing disappointment to incompetent AD authorities and indifferent UW officials could ever have any affect on the direction of our football program, we wouldn't be here complaining about it still nor would 20,000 to 25,000 Dawgfans have long ago taken their bones and buried them elsewhere.
For you youngsters who believe I'm a doog and part of the problem because my college football fanaticism hasn't turned to anarchy, you should know that I've been to seven Rose Bowls, enjoying every one even the two we didn't win. The way Husky Football is going, how many Rose Bowls do you think you'll have the opportunity of attending? It's the younger generation of Huskyfans that UW athletics and administration will listen to and perhaps want to sustain your support for the long term........ if you choose to make noise and/or stay home just as my generation did in the early 1970's.
